Peach Days is a long-honored Hurricane tradition. It was revived in 1999 after Hurricane Valley residents got together to re-establish the hometown event that originally began as the “Fruit Festival” in 1909, changed to “Elberta Days” in 1911, and finally to “Peach Days” in 1915. The county asked Hurricane to make it the “Washington County Fair” in 1951, because of its great success. When the fair moved to the “new” fairgrounds at Purgatory Flat in the mid 90’s, Hurricane residents missed their “hometown celebration” and revived it in 1999.
