2020 Summer DAY - Swim Lessons

Notes: No make-up days for bad weather
We will use our 2-week format for our Summer classes
Safety Day will be held every session
We are going to use a small group format - 3 students to 1 instructor
All classes are 25 minutes
2020 Fall NIGHT - Swim Lessons
Registration: Jun 29th until full
Cost: $35
Notes: No make-up days for bad weather.
We are going to try a NEW 3-week format for our Spring classes
Still 9 classes but NO safety day
We are going to use a small group format - 3 students to 1 instructor
All classes are 25 minutes
Program Description: We are going to continue to not schedule certain levels at certain times. We will be scheduling a number of participants per time slot. The participants will be divided by ability and taught according to where they are on the swimming level progression. Throughout the session, we will keep you updated on how your child is progressing, and at the end of the session, you will receive the level check-off sheet the coordinates with what your child has been working on.
Anticipated Outcome: To provide every child with the best opportunity to succeed and develop stronger swimming skills ultimately helping them be safer in and around water.
SWIM LESSON REFUND
-Full refunds will be given only when Hurricane Recreation cancels the class.
-Participants who cancel for personal reasons and do so 7 days or more prior to the start date of the class will receive a refund of either:
a class fee, minus a 15% processing fee for a check refund
or
100% class fee back on Hurricane Recreation account.
-Participants who cancel for personal reasons and do so less than 7 days before the start date of the class will receive NO refunds.
Swim Lesson Descriptions
Parent / Child –Ages 6 months to 3 years.
PC – This class is to help children become comfortable in water so they are ready to be in a class independently. This class is not designed to teach children to swim or survive in water. Parents will learn how to support their child in the water. 30 minute class
Pre-Swim Levels – Ages 3 to 5. – 25 min class
PS level 1 - No experience required
PS level 2- Children will need to be comfortable submerging their face on their own and be able to float independently for 5 seconds to be in this course
Swim Levels- Ages 4 and up. – 25 min class
SW. level 1- Children will need to have skills from pre-swim levels and be able to combine arm and leg action on front independently for 5 yds to be in this course
SW. level 2- Children will need to have skills from SW1 and be able to combine arm and leg action on front independently for 10 yds with breath control and combine arm and leg action on back independently for 5yd to be in this course
SW. level 3- Children will need to have skills from SW2 and be able to combine arm and leg action on front and back independently for 15 yds with breath control, and be familiar with the breast stroke & butterfly kicks to be in this course.
SW. level 4- Children will need to have skills from SW3 and be able swim the front crawl & back stroke for 25 yds with breath control, be able to combine the arm action and kick for the breast stroke for 10yds & butterfly for 5yds, be familiar with the side stroke kick and dive head first into the water either kneeling or standing from the deck to be in this course.
SW. level 5- Children will need to have skills from SW4 and be able swim the front crawl 25 yds with correct side breathing, be able to combine the arm action and kick for the breast stroke for 25yds, side stroke for 15yds & butterfly for 15yds, and dive head first into the water from standing from the deck to be in this course
SW. level 6- Children will need to have skills from SW5 and be able correctly swim the front crawl for 50yds, the back stroke, elementary back stroke, breast stroke & side stroke for 25yds and the butterfly 15yds, dive head first into the water from standing position on the 1 meter board to be in this course
Other classes
Junior lifeguard- Introductory class to learn lifeguard skills and provide volunteer opportunities. Strong swimmers ages 12 to 16.
Scouts- Designed to meet Boy Scout swimming and lifesaving merit badges. Scouts must have basic swimming skills.
Adult Swim Lessons- This class is designed to help any adult increase their swimming abilities. Each individual will start at their current level and progress though the Swim levels.
